Meet Jennifer

On a wing and a prayer…..

Jennifer

Jennifer has been called to a life of serving others. For over 10 years she has done this through one on one spiritual direction, prayer, and leading groups and retreats; all with the intention to help create balance of body, mind and soul. She also provides spiritual direction and prayer as a volunteer at two local homeless shelters in the Valley; a shelter for families and a shelter for women. It is through her work at the shelters that she began to see the need for community and support for those transitioning into society.

On a wing and a prayer, Saving Amy was born to meet this need.

“I have the unique privilege to be in relationship with many of the women and families in the shelters. I help to foster inner healing which in turn helps to make the outer changes possible.” Saving Amy steps in providing community that supports, encourages and guides. Each family is given a “journey partner”, someone who walks alongside to make connections in areas of need. Whether it be counseling, educational goals, employment opportunities, or life skills, Saving Amy strives to meet each family from a place of love and compassion.

Jennifer views her 10-year work experience as an account manager in sales, where she was in the top 5% of two fortune 500 companies, as an asset to Saving Amy. “I have found in all of life that task areas fall into place once genuine relationships are established. At Saving Amy, we value loving relationships first, which leads to trust, which then leads to the ability to move forward together into a new life filled with hope.”

Jennifer is in the final stages of writing her book, “The Reluctant Healer”. A 10-year work in progress of stories of transformation and hope. She is the proud mom of four amazing children, young people who she says, “Each know they have been uniquely called to change the world for good.” “I believe we are called to make a difference in the world. In the words of St. Francis, ‘It is in the giving that we receive, it is in the serving that we are served, and it is in the loving that we are loved.’ At Saving Amy, we have found that we are transformed. We receive as much or more than those we walk with.”

Jennifer believes she just might be the most fortunate person on the planet. “I am beyond blessed to have been led to my passion; engaged in a giving and receiving with those I serve, and helping others live into a life of limitless opportunity.”

Sarah shares her love of creating and her heart for God with children and families at UMOM, the largest homeless shelter in Arizona. Seeing lives change through prayer and community is her passion. The great outdoors is my happy place, where I play and pray and find inspiration from God in “the leaping greenly spirits of trees, the blue dream of sky and everything which is natural, which is infinite, which is yes.” (E.E. Cummings)

Mindi Brittner

Mindi has always strived to follow the Golden Rule….treat others as you wish to be treated yourself. She didn’t know it actually came from the Bible, but has thought of it as a sign of character and a way of living. Mindi has been self-employed for 23 years with no structured business background and is enjoying the freedom as well as the challenges of being on her own. She coaches people of all ages to unleash their inner champions through the use of positivity, nutrition, and movement. Through her own roller coaster of life, Mindi understands the pain of not necessarily having the proverbial “white picket fence”. She knows the feeling of desperation that goes with it while looking for direction and guidance. We can’t change the chapters that have already been written, but we certainly have the power to turn the page and create an incredible ending to our book.

Tillie was born and raised in Philadelphia, PA and moved to Arizona in the early 90’s. She has been an advocate for women for as long as she can remember and was the founder and director of Women of Wealth through AmeriCorps, which was designed to educate, elevate and empower homeless women. She also participated in Emerge Arizona which is a training program for Democratic women. Tillie became homeless herself for about a year which is how she met her journey partner and became involved with Saving Amy. She volunteers her time teaching children’s Sunday School and praying with the women and families at UMOM. The skills that Tillie has acquired over the years and her heart for homeless women make her a valuable addition to the Board of Saving Amy.
